The Eyecare Trust is progressing a campaign called ‘Eye Doctor’ which should launch in May. This aims to use the influence of GPs and other primary care professionals to increase the uptake of sight tests and educate the public about the importance of good eye health. Posters and leaflets targeting smokers, pregnant women, diabetics and over 60s are being produced for GP practices. Eyecare information and key messages will be distributed via a quarterly Eye Doctor Blog emailed to a database of GPs. There is also planned a programme of media relations targeting the professional press.
