The National Data Repository Project
The aim was to develop a national data repository for community eye health services data in England. It was conceived of in order to demonstrate the cost effectiveness of community eye health services and provide a compelling evidence base to make the case to NHS commissioners for further commissioning of extended primary care services.
The Data repository went live in February 2017 and has proved to be a valuable tool for LOCs, LOC companies, LOCSU and the wider optical sector and this will continue in the future.
In LOCSU’s view, the funding of the Data Repository (amongst other important Central Fund-funded projects) demonstrates the continued importance of the Fund to the optical sector.
