LOBBYING AND INFLUENCING THE NEW GOVERNMENT
After the Central Funds support of the Optical Confederation in its work leading up to the UK General Election, the post election/new government situation emphasises the need to lobby the coalition government.
The bodies making up the Confederation already have good links with Health ministers and civil servants who are relevant to eye health but decisions may be made elsewhere so lobbying into Downing Street and the Cabinet Office is necessary. This needs a specialist writer to put the ideas together and present them in the right way. Such things as simplifying the G.O.S. contract in England and the lifting of the burden of regulation are two such matters.
A robust health economics case also needs to be put together to influence the Treasury spending round.
